Image Analyst is Z/I Imaging's complete solution for desktop image processing
and analysis. The Image Analyst product provides the user with a full set of
image display, enhancement, and manipulation tools that are fully integrated
with Intergraph MGE and MicroStation mapping and GIS products, and are suitable
to meet the demands of intensive image mapping, cartographic production, and
image analysis environments.
Applications
- Image mapping
- Cartographic update
- GIS integration
- Resource management and analysis
- Land use analysis
- Biodiversity
- Wetlands management
- Oceanographic research
- Petroleum / mineral exploration
Foundation Level Image Processing
Image Analyst provides the user with an extensive range of image processing
functions to handle core image mapping and image analysis demands. Image Analyst
features a robust set of image warping and radiometric correction tools, geared
to handle virtually any type of satellite imagery or aerial photography. A full
complement of contrast enhancement tools coupled with user-definable arithmetic
and spatial processing operators, make easy work of enhancing, displaying and
manipulating image data. Image Analyst also supports a user-friendly interface
for image extraction, collaging, splicing, histogram matching, and mosaicking
with interactive seam definition and feathering.
Gray Scale Analysis Tools
Image Analyst includes a set of basic and advanced functions for gray scale
image processing, including convolution filtering, edge detection, Fourier
transformation and filtering; noise reduction filters and texture processing for
radar imagery; and complex arithmetic and logical operators. Image Analyst's
Fourier transformation software provides a flexible set of tools for removing
image anomalies or enhancing spatial features. This function also provides an
option to save FFT filter parameters that are useful for batch processing.
The Complex Logical function provides the operator with a full set of
relational and boolean operators that are useful for analyzing overlay gray
scale images and producing mask images for multispectral training and
classification workflows.
Image Analyst Color Manipulation Tools
Image Analyst empowers the user with a series of color image enhancement,
analysis, and display functions. For example, image decorrelation and reduction
using Image Analyst's powerful Principal Components Analysis software can
produce useful display images for analysis or supervised training. The
RGB-to-IHS and IHS-to-RGB color transforms are used for image fusion and
producing special effects. Tasseled Cap processing for TM and MSS as well as
many other useful tools for color image analysis, are delivered with Image
Analyst.
Multispectral Image Processing
Image Analyst provides a robust set of multispectral training algorithms,
including a number of unsupervised training functions (for example, K-means,
ISODATA, Competitive) and a supervised training workflow, which allows the user
to independently define training polygons or use a "region growing" technique
that guides the user in selecting homogeneous training sites.
Image Analyst provides a comprehensive set of image classification
techniques, including the conventional Minimum Distance, Parallelipiped, and
Maximum Likelihood classifiers, as well as a set of hybrid classifiers. The
post-classification operations provide the user with a diverse set of "class
image" filtering, class statistics and legend generation, and class recolor and
compare functions, to name just a few.
Raster-To-Vector Conversion
Image Analyst supports a raster-to-vector option to provide integration with
the MGE vector-based GIS modules or feature extraction for non-database driven
cartographic applications.
Programmer's Toolkit
Image Analyst is delivered with a Programmer's Toolkit (PT) for customizing
user-specific applications. On-line tailored raster-based imaging solutions may
be programmed using C or MDL (or a combination of both), and specialized dialogs
may be created to interface with the PT
